“I’ve wanted to make games ever since I was really young. I’ve learned that with game design you have to plan it all out. You just can’t go with an idea because you could overshoot your abilities or what people may be interested in. Urban Arts has helped me branch out from what I’m used to. I’m getting closer to what I need to create full-length projects and it’s been really helpful.
My game is Solar Sorcerer, a 2D action game where you play as a swordsman with amnesia and a cursed mask, exploring levels and defeating bosses to advance. Each level has keys you’re required to collect in order to get through a locked door, containing a boss, located somewhere in the level. The goal is to progress through the different levels, defeat bosses, and obtain new upgrades to get stronger.
Being at Urban Arts helped me learn a bit more about art, pixel art, sound design, creative writing and the actual programming behind the game. I plan to obtain my Bachelor and Master degrees in Computer Science or Game Design. I definitely plan on designing my own video game for distribution.
